At the beginning of the year 2020, or even much before that, people had set their Vision-2020 goals and dreams. They defined — how the end-of-the-2020 would look like for their life. Some of them are material possession, fitness, or relationship goals. Alas, in the first half of the year 2020, the global pandemic (Covid-19 virus) has shattered all of our dreams and goals.

The definition of success, for almost all of us, has completely changed by mid-2020. For some, it’s like, “Getting out of ICU alive," “able to play again with kids or grandkids," “able to have dinner with family again," and “able to get by this virus” have become definitions of our success.

However, as life goes on, we still have to move forward, take baby steps again, set new dreams and goals again, and make life beautiful again (if we are alive). So, let’s see how we can redefine SUCCESS again.

Here are a few definitions of SUCCESS, provided by renowned people (collected from various sources, mainly from the SUCCESS magazine, that I am an avid reader of).

Deepak Chopra (author, alternative medicine advocate):

Success is the progressive realization of worthy goals. The ability to love and have compassion. To be in touch with the creative source inside you.

Joel Osteen (American pastor, author):

Fulfilling your purpose — becoming who you are created to be, by doing what you are called to do, doing your best, becoming a good father and a good husband, and becoming someone who made the world a better place.

Sarah Blakely (American businesswoman, founder of Spanx):

Finding the courage to live your truest and biggest life.

Lori Greiner (American entrepreneur, inventor):

Success is when you achieved the goals that you have set for yourself, and you impacted others in a positive manner, and of course, enjoyed it.

Bishop TD Jake (American bishop, author, and filmmaker):

Success is not about a particular dollar amount or size of the house you live on. Success, simply to put, is effectiveness. Effectiveness is based on the intent of the designer. If you effectively execute the things you are designed to do in life then you are effective, and you are successful.

Daniel Pink (New York Times’s best-selling author):

Success is getting up in the morning and doing what you want to do, and having control over your life.

 Kevin O’Leary (Canadian entrepreneur, author):

Success = FREEDOM

Tony Robbins (American author, motivational speaker):

Success is creating an extraordinary life. A life in your terms: Living a life that is meaningful, giving to others, and able to help enough people. The secret to living is giving and serving a cause greater than you.

Megyn Kelly (American author, Talk show host):

Success is fulfillment. Making choices that make you feel like a human being. Things that make you feel like a well-rounded human being, somebody who laughs, cries and sings.

Brian Tracy (Canadian-American author, motivational speaker):

Success is FREEDOM. Free to do what you want, to make your own choices, to do or not do something, to go where you want, and to be your own person. You don’t feel constrained, afraid, inhibited, or held back by someone or something else.

 Barbara Corcoran (American businesswoman, author):

Success is — when I wake up in the morning and I am filled with enthusiasm and excitement about facing the day then I feel successful.

Daniel Goleman (American author, science journalist):

Success is — having a positive impact on people.

Here is my definition of success:

Success is having a life with strong four-pillars-of-life: sound health, a healthy mind, a great relationship, and a stable financial position. In the end, if you are able to live a life on your own terms, free to do things of your choice, and help enough people — you are successful.
